When you called Fred on the phone he would say "Is this the party to whom I'm speaking with" or "are we up for all day" and then when he was done with the conversation (even if you weren't) he would say "say good by now".

Remembering Fred as being one of the “Happy Go Lucky” Meyer lads like his Dad Art and younger sibling my Dad Charlie. His Mom was a saint (making hot oatmeal in the bacon grease for the dogs in winter) and letting me come to stay. One day as an adult my mom and I just popped in on the way to Madison. Fred and sister-in-law Renee were having a bread baking contest in Martha’s kitchen. I think they had taken a class together. True to their usual hospitality they wanted us to stay and judge…. after it rose and baked. We couldn’t but sure wanted to soak up more of the “warmth” in that kitchen. Our family loves 31 too. God bless his family and friends.

My condolences to the entire Fred Meyer family, including all the siblings that I knew throughout the years and their parents Art & Martha, when they all sat together in one pew at church services at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mt. Horeb, WI. Valonne Eckel
