The CACW carving club would like to send thoughts and prayers to John’s family. He was greatly admired by club members and tales are still told about his wood carvings and his artistry. We are very great full he helped start our club.

John was my friend, tennis partner, golf buddy, and teacher for nearly 40 years. If I had to define him in a few words, it would be; “renaissance man” or perhaps perpetual student. He loved learning and had a great curiosity for everything new and old. He like to read anything on history and was an accomplished wood carver. One his skiing friends once remarked “if you thought he was a good tennis player, and a good golfer, you should see him ski”. No question about it, John’s passion was skiing! He lived a remarkable Christian life, taking care of his family and dedicated to teaching. I will think of him often and the part he played in my life. And I will miss him dearly. David Chalgren
