Margriet D. Ziegler

Margriet D. Ziegler, age 69, of Lafayette, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, after a long illness. She was born on Feb. 3, 1952, in Oss, Netherlands, the daughter of Kees and Tini Grintjes. She immigrated with her family in 1959, to Madison, Wis. Margriet graduated from Madison East High School in 1970, and married Thomas (Tom) Ziegler on June 12, 1971. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. Margriet helped put her husband through college until moving to Indiana in 1974. She was an intricate part in starting the family run business, Ziegler Soil Consulting, Inc., where she was secretary/treasurer. She loved watching the Green Bay Packers football and Badgers and Boilermaker sports. She will be remembered for her fun spirit and for her love of family, especially her grandson, Noah. Margriet is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Lori (Steve) Koon, Lafayette; grandson, Noah; brothers, Ted Grintjes (Nancy), Milwaukee, WI and Case Grintjes (Judy), Springfield, IL; brother-in-law, Merle Ziegler, Stoughton, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Margriet was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willhem (Bill) Grintjes; and sister-in-law, Sharon Ziegler. Thanks to Indiana University Arnett Hospital — Hospice Care and University Place Nursing Facility, West Lafayette for their care. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 102 Buckingham Drive, Lafayette, Ind.
