Obituary
Black Earth - David William Esser, age 85, of Black Earth, passed away on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, surrounded by his family at home. He was born on March 2, 1936, in Cross Plains, the son of John and Leona (Hoessel) Esser.
David attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School and graduated from Middleton High School where he excelled in football, being affectionately called "Killer." He married Dawn Thorson on Nov. 7, 1958, in Cross Plains.
David served in the U.S. Army. He worked for TDS for over 40 years, retiring as a Regional Plant Manager in 2001. David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time making his weekly NASCAR picks with his friends at "The Shack."
David is survived by his wife, Dawn Esser; two sons, Daniel (Tammy) Esser and DJ Esser; daughter, Darcy Wirebaugh; four granddaughters, Kelsey Brookes, Kacey Esser, Tess Wirebaugh and Taylor Esser; great-grandson, Jayce Brookes; great-granddaughter, Zoey Brookes; and two sisters, Betty Ann Foye and Rocile Bedward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leona Esser; and his son-in-law, Joe Wirebough.
