Obituary

MADISON/SUN PRAIRIE/MONROE - Patricia A. “Pat” (née Cavanaugh) Kiley, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at Aster Assisted Living of Monroe, Wis.  She was born on Feb. 19, 1943, to Dorothy and Raymond Cavanaugh in Milwaukee, Wis.

Pat was married to her soulmate, Richard, for 42 years. They were a model example of love and service to their family and their communities. Pat was a registered nurse working at UW Hospital for 25 years. She was a Badgerland Girl Scout leader and ELMS community volunteer. Pat and Richard committed countless hours to growing the Madison East High School Purgolder Booster Club. Her commitment was evident in the stands as well, where she was the loudest cheerleader at her children’s sporting events. She also loved cheering for all Badgers sports and the Packers.

As a longtime member of St Bernard Catholic Church in Madison, she spread the word of the Lord by participating in the folk choir, teaching religious education and other ministries. Pat and Richard also helped couples prepare for marriage through the church’s enrichment program. She loved to travel and she always looked forward to her annual Women’s Week camping trips.

Pat is survived by her children, Karen (Jamie) Rayshel, Brian (Liz) Kiley, Scott (Sara) Kiley and Karen (Ken) Gill; grandchildren, Mathis Rayshel, Clayton Kiley, Rossalyn and Linnie Kiley; and siblings, Carol Rauen and Rae Hoesli. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Raymond and Dorothy Cavanaugh; and brother, Michael Cavanaugh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert the Great Drive, Sun Prairie, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, with Monsignor Donn Heiar presiding.
