MCFARLAND - Cheryl Lu Tesnow, age 76, of McFarland, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Sept. 8, 1945, in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Lou and Gertrude (Nuttelman) Stello.


Cheryl graduated from Central High School in La Crosse. She married William Tesnow on July 23, 1966.


Her life’s purpose was to make others feel loved and special as God did for her and she did an amazing job at that. She enjoyed creating personal special gifts for friends and family to make their holiday or special day even more special. She always also had encouraging messages or notes for her family and friends. In her younger years she loved crafting, cross stitching, gardening, dancing, and fishing with her dad. Family was important to her so even with her full work load she always made time to show us love by cooking our favorite meals and other special little things she did. She was so giving, kind, and supportive and was dedicated to the business she created with her husband.


Cheryl is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Tesnow; daughter, Michelle Jolly (Craig); daughter, Nicole Tesnow; son, Daniel Tesnow; nephews, Dave DeLaney and Todd DeLaney (Laura) and their children, Becca and Robert. She also left a few close friends and extended family who loved her dearly as well as touching so many more lives on her life’s journey. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Karla DeLaney.


Services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Saturday. A celebration of life light lunch will be held immediately following the service at the Essen Haus, 514 E. Wilson St., Madison.

Cheryl will be greatly missed, I always looked forward to her cards on occasions she would pick the most enjoyable cards and the notes she would write in them were always between wisdom and funny. Cheryl and her sister Karla would always joke about doing projects and they would say not today! I also remember the great times when Cheryl would come to Karla's home to bake Christmas cookies, we would try to stop in to say Hi and the Ladies would be joking and having such a good time together, sometimes our children would help, and they loved it, I also remember when Cheryl took time away from her busy life to stay at Karla's home with our Daughter Rebecca who was only 3years old while Todd had a Lifesaving surgery. Cheryl will be missed by so many people. our thoughts and prayers go out to Bill, Michelle,Craig,Nicole,Danial. God Bless.

I want to send my deepest condolences on the passing of Cheryl to Bill and the kids. Jill and I have so many fond memories of the old hockey days at McFarland.
