Obituary

BROOKLYN - Patricia Ann “Pat” Strouse went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Madison, Wisconsin, due to complications with Parkinson's disease. This wasn't because necessarily that she was a good person, which she is, but because she had accepted Jesus into her life as her personal Savior several years ago. Pat was born on May 15,1945, in Springfield, IL, to Clifford and Elizabeth Mitchell, who preceded her in death in 2014/2013. She grew up in the Hammond/Calumet City, IN area. Pat was a fun person and a behind the scene prankster and was seldom accused because she was quiet. Pat enjoyed going to flea markets and antique businesses. She was an avid euchre player. She also loved to attend church services and work with others on church projects for others. She always enjoyed the shoe boxes for Samaritan's purse and toys for the Angel Tree ministries. Pat loved people similar to the way that Jesus does. She also loved to do flower gardening. She always had a beautiful yard. Pat, even with Parkinson's, was an excellent folk art painter until the last few years. Many admired her work. Pat attended Hillcrest Bible Church in Oregon, Wisconsin for several years. She was currently attending Oak Grove Church in Evansville, Wisconsin. She had many friends from many places including churches in Michigan. Pat is survived by her husband, Arnold W. “Arnie” Strouse of Brooklyn, WI.; three sons, Timothy W. Horton from Tampa Bay, FL, Thomas (Laura) M. Horton from Charleston, SC area, and Michael (Christina) J. Horton from the New Orleans, LA area. Pat has one grandchild, and five nieces and nephews. Pat's sister, Kathy (Kyle) Sandersen is from Denver, CO. Her brother, Michael Mitchell and sister-in-law, Mary Jo passed away in 2018 in Indianapolis, IN. Pat will be laid at rest at the Irving Township Cemetery in Hastings, Mich., until our Lord Jesus returns.Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. We know that the Lord was with Pat everyday of her life. She handled (with the Lord's help) all of the challenges that she faced, overcoming obstacles that most of us never contend with. Thankfully, she is in a better place now and can enjoy peace. Our hearts go out to you, Arnie at your loss. May her family and friends also this peace from the Lord.
