MADISON - Brian T. Kaye, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on May 25, 1941, in Rhinelander, the son of Thomas and Ethel (Minnick) Kichefski.


He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Everhart.  Brian loved his role as grandpa, his grandchildren and especially, his great-grandchildren were the center of his life.


Brian is survived by his daughter, Patricia "Trish" Everhart; sons, Richard (Bonnie) Everhart and Jim Everhart; grandchildren, William (Emily) Everhart, Kevin Everhart and Alison (Derek Sykes) Everhart; great-grandchildren, Blake and Easton Sykes, and Abby and Jake Everhart; brother, Jan (Helen) Kichefski; and sister, Lois Sewell. He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Jane; and parents, Thomas and Ethel.

Witth a heavy heart I send to you my ondolences to Brian & Mary's family. I was a friend of Brian's since college. After he married Mary, she became just as close. For decades we shared funny and unusual times, played pranks on each other and joked about everything from ugly toes to receding hairlines. Besides the back & forth hiding of the bust of Nefertiti on each other's property, the best one is the attached photo. One weekend we visited them at their log "cabin" with a prank in the trunk. One day Diane and I walked into their woods, without Brian or Mary, carrying the "prank." We found a sapling, bent it so that we could reach it, and tied the objest to its top. They didn't find it for 2 years! Below is the object made of wire, nylon and flakey plastic. Memories are made so that grieving is eased, but they cannot erase. We love and miss them. Brian... and Mary. You were an excellent couple together and will be missed. I enjoyed reading Benedict Di Salvo's memories. How lucky you are to have those memories. How lucky we ALL are to have known them. Perhaps my best memories of them are at their 'cabin' also. I often think of the times we would go out on the 4x4's with chain saw and winch on Brian's 4x4. We would clear the trails to prepare for deer hunting season. Brian and I also share that we invested in a business together. He was a good soul. Rest in Peace. -Gus

Brian and Mary...what a memorable couple and considered some of our very best friends. We can't quite get our arms around the fact that they're both gone. We have so many fun memories of motorcycle trips together, houseboat exploration on the Mississippi, and so many times getting together just to connect. We remember so many of Brian's way of saying things..."Brianisms"...that we still quote today. Brian was the most open, caring, generous man. Brian and Mary will always have a special place in our hearts. We are so thankful we had them in our lives for many years.
