MUSCODA - Bernard C. “Bernie” Galgoci, age 71, of rural Muscoda, Wis., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on Aug. 24, 1950, in Palmerton, Pa., the son of Charles and Mary (Sotnik) Galgoci.
Bernie grew up in Lansford, Pa., and graduated from Panther Valley High School in 1968 and the University of Pennsylvania in 1972. He worked for many years in biology research in Boston, Greece and Vermont before moving to Muscoda in 1994, where he and his wife started and ran a native plant nursery for many years.
Bernie was a good conversationist who enjoyed talking with both friends and strangers, having a true interest in what others had to say. He loved and was loved by his family, many friends, and his five cats.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Peterson; sister, Jane (Harold Ficke) Galgoci; brother, Charles (Nancy) Galgoci; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Jane Peterson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Ann Galgoci.

Bernie and I shared some science classes at Panther Valley High School. He was an exceptional student. It was amazing how he rarely took a book home to study from and yet he always achieved the highest test scores. He had a witty and comical sense of humor and managed to make everyone around him laugh and feel good. I saw him last at our 50th year class reunion in 2018. This was the first time most classmates spoke with him in many many years. He was proud of his native plant nursery which he and his wife Martha operated in Muscoda.
