Norma Jean Jenkins

OREGON - Norma Jean Jenkins, age 83, of Oregon, Wis., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 18, 1937, in Madison, to Arba and Thelma Peterson. Norma was a life-long resident of Oregon and graduated from Oregon High School in 1956 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert F. “Whitey” Jenkins in 1958. They were married for 53 years until Whitey’s passing in 2012. Norma was an integral part of Jenkins Builders. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Trachte in Oregon and Intelligent Networks in Fitchburg. Norma was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was active with the Altar Guild and took pride in serving the Smorgasbord dinner every fall. Norma and Whitey were very active members of Zor Shrine. They especially supported the Shriners Hospital for Children. She was also involved with the Oregon Town & Country Women’s Club and the local Red Hat Society. Norma’s true joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, friends, and her many pets. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, bowling, gardening, golfing, cooking, baking, canning, and playing piano. Norma truly was a very special friend with a wonderful sense of humor and a laugh that will be greatly missed by all. Norma is survived by her two children, Ron (Julie) Jenkins of Oregon and Sue (Brian) Conner of Portage; three grandchildren, Eric Conner of Waupaca, Emily (Mike) Wilkins of Sun Prairie and Kevin Tolzmann of Osaka, Japan; brother, Phillip L. (Carol) Peterson of Oregon; sisters-in-law, Sheila Andersen of Oregon, Cleo (Carl) Smith of Waukesha, Nancy (Kelly Benz) Wanless of Madison and Linda Musillami of Fallbrook, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, with the Rev. Naomi Garber presiding. Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Monday.
