Dilver Dean Bible

MADISON - Dilver D. “Diz” Bible, age 87, of Madison, Wis., passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021. He was born on Jan. 18, 1934, in Honey Creek, Wis. Dilver was united in marriage to Shirley A. Manweiler in 1957. He served in the United States Army, 11th Airborne Division (Angels) and worked at Oscar Mayer-Kraft Foods for 43 years. Dilver graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1954. He had an associate degree from Wisconsin School of Electronics and continued his education at DeVry Institute of Technology, RCA Electronics, MATC Industrial Electronics and WER Industrial Training and through many other courses over the years to support his interests. He was a licensed pilot and member of Rio Aero Club. He was a member of Trout Unlimited, taught fly tying and ran fishing Charters. His love for life showed through his many hobbies - camping, fishing, hunting, boat racing, water skiing and playing cards. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed. Dilver is survived by his wife, Shirley; two children, Linda A. Bible and Myles D. (Jackie) Bible; his sister, Dorothy (Ken) Luetkens; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Orra and Lena (Johnston) Bible; and his siblings, Arbutus (Marvin) Clark, Delores (Don) Bork, Ed Bible, Byron (Virginia) Bible, Thomas (Dorothy) Bible, Gene Bible and Harold (Judy) Bible. Funeral services will be held at Burke Lutheran Church, 5720 Portage Road, Madison, at 12 noon on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
