Obituary

MAZOMANIE - Deborah Lea “Debbie” (Lichterman) Rogan, age 74, of Mazomanie, Wis., passed away on Nov. 12, 2021, at UW Hospital in Madison, Wis.  She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 29, 1947, to Adam and Minna Lichterman.


Deborah met Leonard “Len” Rogan while working at Madison Area Rehab Center (MARC). They married on Sept. 22, 1977, while on their lunch hour, at the city-county building in Madison.


Debbie earned a B.A. in Sociology and dedicated her working life to the service of people with disabilities in Dane County.  She went on to become the Director of Pathways of Wisconsin.  She had a profound impact on the lives of many individuals.


After she married Len, she became an avid gardener.  Every year she planted seeds in the basement and put more perennials in the gardens.  Her raspberry pies and sorbets were phenomenal. She was an avid reader, so much so, that she would write her name in books she donated to the library book sale so she wouldn’t buy them back and read them again.


Debbie loved to travel. When she was young, she spent a year in Italy with her friend, Joan.  Lately she had become a bit of a Francophile and traveled several times with Len to Paris and Quebec.  To say that she will be missed by all who knew her, would be an understatement.


Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters.


A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. For additional details, please contact the funeral home. Those who wish to visit Debbie’s resting place at Natural Path Sanctuary in Verona may do so starting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
