Candice J Nelson

MADISON - Candice {Candi} J. Nelson, age74 passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 28,2021 at Meriter Hospital. She was born on December 11, 1946, in Madison, the daughter of Sylvester & Grace {Cross] Brereton of Lodi. Candi was a 1964 graduate of Lodi High School. She was employed by Madison Kipp Corp and The Madison Concourse Hotel and Governors Club for many years. Candi had a variety of interests including taking care of the many cats she had throughout the years, sitting outside having coffee with the neighbors before moving to the nursing home, bingo, casino slot machines, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Lord Of The Rings, watching various TV shows such as NCIS, CSI, Blue Bloods, watching Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packers football, cooking shows and various shows on PBS. She also enjoyed listening to a variety of music such as country, rock, and R & B. Candi loved working with the plants at Oak Park Nursing Home, she attended many gatherings at Oak Park, making several friends these past few years. Candi especially loved to be with family and friends she enjoyed when LaVonne would come get her, she enjoyed going to LeRoy and Sheila’s place for holidays, cookouts and the summer car shows. Candi is survived by her daughters, Denise, and Cheryl Nelson; her sister, Mary {Jerry} Robertson; five grandchildren, Matthew Statz, Chase and Hannah Hunter, Deontay and Kiara Walsh; good friend, Sheila Nelson; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Joann Facklam and Georgia Schumann and her daughter Lisa Hunter. Funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St. at 2 pm on Monday, December 6, 2021. Burial will be at Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 pm until the time of service on Monday. If one so chooses to send flowers using Felly’s please put attention Edward in central design as he was good friend of Candi’s, this is only a suggestion as they both shared a love for flowers, Edward used to bring Candi flowers, fruits, veggies from his garden and eggs from his chickens for years.
