Dale Louis Odegard

MONONA - Dale Odegard, age 74, of Monona, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, surrounded by his family, at UW Health at the American Center. He was born on July 17, 1947, in Madison, the son of Louis and Evelyn (Gallagher) Odegard. Dale graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1967. During his high school days, he worked as a soda jerk at a local ice cream parlor. He later worked as a claims processor for WPS Health Solutions for many years, retiring in 2011. Dale enjoyed bicycling, boating, camping and traveling, making dollhouses and doll furniture, drawing, inventing new things and spending time with his family and friends. For the last several years of his life, Dale lived with his nephew, Troy, and his brother-in-law, John, where he was given wonderful care. Dale is survived by his sister, Judith (Karsten) Vinje; brother-in-law, John Zwettler; five nephews, Craig Otto, Mike Vinje, Mark Vinje, Troy Zwettler and Ryan Zwettler; two nieces, Wendy Langston and Stacey Keller; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joyce (Wendell) Otto and Janice Zwettler; and nephew, Scott Otto. A celebration of Dale's life will be held in the spring with a bike ride in his memory. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established for his great-nieces and great-nephews.
