Emerson, age 90, of Janesville, passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Waunakee Manor. He was born on March 18, 1931, in Lisbon, Iowa, the son of Hiram J. and Louie Emerson. Dean graduated from Lisbon High School in 1948. He married Norma Busch on Sept. 29, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 as active duty and continued in the reserves through 1959. Dean started working in IT beginning in the 60s and ended up working for many different companies in Iowa and later in Wisconsin during the late 2000s. He was a member of the Lisbon American Legion and enjoyed fishing, watching sports, going to music shows and gambling. Dean is survived by daughter, Deborah (Douglas Norgord) Emerson; brother, Mort (Lela) Emerson; sister, Lucille (Chuck) Kelley; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; parents, Hiram and Louie and his brother, Hiram J. Emerson. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Badger Honor Flight.
