Obituary

MONONA - Mark George Morgan, of Monona, Wis., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the age of 79.

He was born on December 14, 1945, in Washington, D.C., the beloved son of Mark and Audrey I. Morgan. Big sister Lorrel loved to call her brother “Porge” and the two were always each other’s supporter and protector their entire lives. After graduating from the school of hard knocks, Mark married Christine M. Bartholomew in February 1974. Together, they settled in the Madison area to raise their family.

Mark spent most of his life working as a salesman in and around Madison, selling everything from automobiles and RVs to sign machines and shoes. Mark also worked as a license examiner for DMV and drove bus for Madison Metro before retiring in 2008.

Mark had a true passion for the art of buying and selling cars. With a sharp instinct for spotting a great deal, he was always on the lookout for his next automotive treasure. When he wasn’t chasing down his latest find, Mark loved unwinding with a good cigar and a timeless John Wayne film-or indulging in a night of excitement at the casino.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christine Morgan; his son, Marc (Karen) Morgan; his daughter, Marney (Bryan) Moore; and his grandchildren, Audrey, Hailey, Jacoby, and Malia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lorrel Hagberg; his niece, Gina; dear friends, Frank and Francis Mann; along with additional family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sage Meadow of Middleton for Mark’s care and personally thank Lynette, Melisa, and Jodie with Agrace HospiceCare for their expert guidance and attendance.

A private service will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter or Agrace HospiceCare in Mark’s name. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

There is not enough space to share all the many wonderful memories I have of him. I will just say he was the "coolest" uncle EVER. He taught me dance, how to drive just to name a few and all about love of family. I will miss you so much. Say hi to mom for me.
