STOUGHTON-Gerald Gene “Jerry” Slusser, age 91, passed away on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, after a brief bout with cancer. He was born on June 18, 1930, the son of Jesse and Lydia (Brandt) Slusser, and grew up in Green Bay with his brother, Don.


Jerry’s love of sports was lifelong, and he excelled in football, basketball and tennis. In 1953, Jerry graduated from UW-Madison (economics) and married Theodora Mae Winchell. Together, they raised a daughter and son. In 1976, Jerry and Teddy moved to Arizona from Neenah, WI. His sales career included Hallmark Cards, Springbok and McKesson. After Teddy’s death, he moved back to Wisconsin and settled in Stoughton near his daughter. He was a lifelong Badgers and Packers fan. Foremost, Jerry was a dedicated loving husband, father and grandfather. We will dearly miss his love, optimism and strength.


Jerry is survived by daughter, Lesley Johnson (son-in-law, Terry Marshall), son, Judson Slusser (partner, Chuck Walworth), granddaughter, Hillary Johnson, friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Teddy (2010), brother, Don (2004) and half-sister, Katheryn (1995).


A celebration of life service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022. A private scattering of Jerry’s and Teddy’s ashes will occur in Door County, in the spring according to their wishes.

Lesley, Jud and all: How very sorry I am for your loss. I have known Jerry for nearly 60 years, when he became my brother-in-law, as we married sisters Teddy and Alice. He was always so kind and fun to be with, and generous as well. I remember in particular his sharing of his own car so that my little family could tour Arizona and Mexico when we did a Christmas vacation in Arizona. His was a full and wonderful life - he will be missed but certainly not forgotten. Memories will bring great comfort for all. I know he will rest in peace. Sincerely, Rodney Binder

I loved my uncle Jerry. He and my dad were the best of friends. I have a memory of the two of them going out to wash their cars in the pouring rain in door county , wi. We all thought they were a little nutty but they had such a fun time! My other fun memory was also in door county when the two of them would tell the four of us to close our eyes and they would “fly” over a hill In the car… it would make our stomachs flip and was similar to a roller coaster ride. I think my uncle and my dad really enjoyed giving us a small but memorable thrill. Great, great memories of our adventures on vacation!!

Jud and Leslie, your dad was a sweet, kind funny, and caring man who always made others feel good to be around.  I still remember the first time I met Jerry when we drove to WI in 1986 for your wedding and how kind and welcoming he was to us. I remember visiting with your folks in Phoenix and seeing his wonderful backyard with all the deciduous trees and Jud telling me his goal was to have a Wisconsin grove in his AZ backyard! I am sure you know that his kindness and worldview have been passed on to both the two of you. We are thinking of you each day in the days ahead and sending you love and sympathy. Love Joe and Steve
