Gene Stormer

MIDDLETON - Gene R. Stormer, age 80, of Middleton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Meriter Hospital, due to complications from COVID. He was born on June 17, 1941, in Madison, Wis., the only child of Robert and Fern (Atkinson) Stormer. Gene graduated from Middleton High School in 1960. While in high school, he excelled in track and football and made the All-American Football Team. On Sept. 15, 1962, Gene married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Dahlk. They spent 59 wonderful years together, and together they raised four sons. Gene worked for many years for McGann Construction as a superintendent, retiring in 2007. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Gene was very proud of his family and loved them all dearly. Gene is survived by his wife, Ruth (Dahlk) Stormer; sons, Dan (Lisa Hollfelder), Todd (Debbie Alt) and Tim (Nikki Burlingame) Stormer; daughter-in-law, Teresa (Miller) Stormer; and 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Matt, Katie, Jack, Emily, Josh, Cora, Eli, William, and Grace Stormer. He is further survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Tim and Kristie (Dahlk) Stapleton, Mary (Mutz) and Sue Dahlk; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, John; his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Norman and Anna Mae (Mandt) Dahlk; his grandparents; and brothers-in-law, John and James Dahlk. A memorial service will be held at West Middleton Lutheran Church, 3763 Pioneer Road, Verona, at 12 noon on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, with the Rev. Connie Matye presiding. Burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
