SUN PRAIRIE - Dennis L. Blackman, age 67, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021. He was born on Sept. 18, 1954, in Milwaukee, the youngest child of Herbert and Rose (Weiss) Blackman.
As the baby of the family, Dennis grew up in a happy and loving Jewish home. Leaving school early, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 17 and proudly served for 10 years. In the Navy, Dennis learned photography and camera repair while traveling the world on the U.S.S. Forrestal. He had fond memories of traveling in Israel and Greece and often told stories of being stationed in Maryland.
While stationed in Jacksonville, Fla., he met his first wife, Paula. After his discharge, he returned to Milwaukee with his young family and opened his own business, Accurate Photo Equipment Service. After losing Paula to cancer, he was incredibly lucky to find love again for over 20 wonderful years with Michele Jimieson.
Dennis, always devoted to family, was proud to gain two adult sons with his marriage to Michele. His sense of humor, generous spirit, and honesty will be remembered by all who knew him.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Michele Blackman; children, Elyn Blackman (Russ Fausnight), Eric (Kerri) Jimieson, and Jason Jimieson; grandson, Connor Jimieson; siblings, Karrie (David) Weiner and Stuart (Phyllis) Blackman; and beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Rose; and his first wife, Paula Blackman.
The family is grateful for the care that Dennis received from the Veteran’s Administration hospitals where he received medical treatment during his life. Please consider a donation to the William S. Dennis and his 1st wife were truly family to me before Elyn even arrived. After her birth (an extra special blessing since Paula didn't think a baby was a possibility with her health history) it was like my family just expanded. I was thrilled that Dennis found love again later with Michele - he told me many times over the years how thrilled he was to have her. I can't even begin to do memories - JUST SO MANY! He was just the best. So funny, so smart and so crazy!!! Always teaching me or making me laugh. It was Denny that taught me so much about cameras and photography - things that I still know and use. Rest in peace my sweet friend......

Uncle Dennis was quite the character as Nana his first mother in law would say. I remember in the early 80s my father, his nephew by marriage to Paula taking me for a ride on Dennis's motorcycle in Jacksonville, when his daughter was born. We visited him in Milwaukee a few times in the 90s, and unfortunately time passes and the travel ceased. He was a good man full of interesting stories. I was able to chat with him on Facebook a few times and it was nice to be able to do so. May his name be for a blessing.
