Vaughn Harold Ableman Jr.

MOUNT HOREB - Vaughn Harold Ableman, age 81, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on March 26, 1943, in Reedsburg, the son of Vaughn and Leona (Smith) Ableman.

Vaughn graduated from Badger High School in Lake Geneva in 1961 and served in the U.S. Marines. He was united in marriage to Judith Ableman on March 26, 1965, in Lake Geneva. He previously worked for Mount Horeb Utilities.

Vaughn was active in his community, and it was important for him to serve others. He was a member of the Moose Legion, and past commander of the American Legion in Mount Horeb.

Vaughn enjoyed stamp collecting, reading and doing puzzles. He loved spending his time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. He was the "dad of all dads" in the eyes of his children. He would take his kids to work with him every day and enjoyed having coney dogs on Tuesdays with them. He loved being a grandpa and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. 

Vaughn is survived by his sons, Keith Ableman and Kyle (Lisa) Ableman; daughter, Kellie (Don) McKinney; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Leona; wife, Judith; sisters, Patricia Turner and Emma Adkins; and brother, Howard Ableman.

A memorial service will be held at EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, with Pastor John Twiton presiding. Burial will take place at Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
