MIDDLETON - Elizabeth Ann "Lee Ann" Cooper, age 75, of Middleton, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Oct. 5, 1946, in Sparta, the daughter of Leo and Milli (Gerkey) Stirn. Lee Ann graduated from St. Mary's Xray School in Madison. She married Leo Cooper III on June 8, 1968, in Lansing, Iowa. She worked as a Xray Technician for Stiennon Radiology.
Lee Ann enjoyed community theatre, singing and performing for the CTM and Strollers for 46 years. She was a founding member of Strollers Theatre from 1965 until her retirement in 2011, and a founding member of the Bartell Theatre in downtown Madison where she served as managing director for ten years. Lee Ann was also a lifelong member of the Democratic Party.
Lee Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and is survived by her husband, Leo; daughter, Jessica Cooper; son, Adam (Catherine) Cooper; grandson, Jackson Cooper; granddaughters, Cate Cooper and Ellyson Cooper; brothers, Gary (Pat) Stirn and Greg (Sue) Stirn; sisters, Micki Connor, Cathy (Dick) Sullivan, Janice (Keith) Lenz and Lori (Sara) Stirn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
At Lee Ann’s request, no services will be held.

Lee Ann and Leo were pivotal in community theater in Madison. My acting brilliant career (??) is due to them. Fondly remember the hard work she put into Stroller productions and the readings and cast gatherings at their house on Sheldon. She will be missed. Sorry for your loss. Cal Bruce

Dear Leo, Jessica, Adam and family, We were deeply saddened to hear about Lee Ann’s death. It brought forth a flood of happy memories from the early days of the Strollers when we all put together the shows and celebrated with great cast parties..
