Dean R Bertelrud

New Glarus - Dean Robert Bertelrud, age 64, of New Glarus, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at SSM Health Monroe. He was born on April 22, 1957, in Monroe, the son of Herman Bertelrud and Anna (Lord) Nyhus. Dean graduated from New Glarus High School in 1975. He married Alice (Schwoerer) Bertelrud on Aug. 23, 1986, in Blanchardville. Dean worked for Anderson Custom Processing, and was a beef farmer. Dean made people laugh and made friends wherever he went. He was always willing to help someone in need. Dean loved triking and he took many road trips on it and attended several trike rallies. He even built his own trike, “Shine On.” Dean was an adventurous spirit who enjoyed traveling to many destinations, to spend time with family and friends. Dean was an avid fisherman, even traveling to Mexico and Canada to catch the “big ones.” Dean was a dedicated Brewers and Packers fan and state fair goer. He was a member of Brothers of the Third Wheel and Pheasants Forever. Dean was very proud of his girls, and he loved being a grandpa. Dean is survived by his wife, Alice; two daughters, Lindsay Bertelrud and Cortney (Tyler Hanson) Bertelrud; grandchildren, Evan and Sophie, and Brynliegh and Emberliegh; two brothers, Alan Bertelrud and David (Henrietta) Nyhus; and two sisters, Barbara Newcomer and Linda (Jack) Everson. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charliegh Marie Hanson; mother, Anna Nyhus; stepfather, Abert Nyhus; his father, Herman Bertelrud; sister, Janice (Leon) Hoffer; and nephew/godson, Kim Alan Pederson. A funeral service will be held at YORK MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, N9407 State Road 78, Blanchardville, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021. Burial will follow at York Memorial Cemetery, Blanchardville. A luncheon will be held at Blanchard Hall, 204 S. Main Street, Blanchardville, immediately following the burial. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO MOUNT HOREB FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Stay safe and mask up please.
