Obituary
BROOKLYN - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carol Joan (Gerard) Martinson on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021. Carol was born on Dec. 5, 1939, to Harold and Alice (Cross) Gerard in Stoughton, Wis. She was united in marriage to Donald Martinson on June 6, 1959.
Carol was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to her family and extended family. Carol always had a smile on her face, a warm inviting hug and usually fresh chocolate chip cookies not too far away. She would make every holiday special in her own way and always went way overboard with Christmas. Carol had a great ear for listening and a wise counsel when you needed it. In the early days of their marriage, Carol and Don loved dancing, traveling and making new friends. They spent several winters at their property in Lake Wales, Fla.
Carol was responsible for starting a Little League in Brooklyn, Wis., for both boys and girls. She also started a craft fair which was near and dear to her heart and she poured so much of herself into those for years.
Carol was phenomenal at encouraging others. She was often heard pouring into her children, Jim, Kathy and Sherrie, or the children she babysat for over the years. She served in several volunteer organizations in the Oregon and Brooklyn communities.
Carol is survived by her special partner, Don Andrysczyk; her three children, James (Julie) Martinson, Katherine Remmel and Sherrie (Claudio) Aranguiz; her sister, Judy (Wayne) Foster; brother, Michael Gerard; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and so many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Donald.
A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021. A private family burial will be held at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carol's name to your favorite dog rescue. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com .

To Don and Carols, family, I do not believe that what God put together, that death can separate. Carols beautiful spirit will live on forever, until that beautiful day we meet again. Love you all. Mary Lou Hodel
