Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE - John Packard, beloved husband, father, and friend, died on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, after a long illness. John was a proud U.S. Marine. He was also a firefighter with the City of Madison and an accountant with the State of Wisconsin. He was passionate about family, curling, fishing, and reading. John is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his son, Darrel (Debbie) and grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Sophie, and Sean; and his daughter, Shelley Kohl (Jeff) and grandchildren, Lexi, Cailey and Josie. John is further survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Beich; brother, Raymond (Sandy); Deb Packard; and his dog, Em. John was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Vivian; his brothers, Jack and Jim; and Dale Beich. John will be missed daily by all who loved him. A celebration of John’s life will be held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at 12 noon, with military honors at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
