Obituary
MADISON - Sally Lynn VanLysel, age 63, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at her home. She was born on March 30, 1958, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., the daughter of Marvin and Janice (Starkweather) VanLysel.
Sally graduated from LaFollette High School in 1976 and married Andy Anderson in 1979. They went on to have three children: Angela, Amy, and Andrew. She then graduated from Edgewood College in 1996 with a degree in Social Services. She dedicated her life to the local community as a social worker for Dane County Human Services until her recent retirement. She was a member of the John Bell Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution.
Sally had an infectious smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening, hiking, and weekly euchre games. She also loved traveling and exploring new locations with her family. She had upcoming trips planned to Florida and Mexico. She cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren, they meant the world to her. She especially enjoyed Disney World with her grandchildren.
Sally was a deeply compassionate person who extended warmth and acceptance to all of those around her. She always had time for her many friends and family members, and was someone you could always count on.
Sally is survived by her two daughters, Angie Bellmore and Amy (Bryan) Bellows; grandchildren, Ava, Jameson, and Annalise Bellows; mother, Janice VanLysel; brothers, Michael (Rosalie Hovey) VanLysel and Stephen (Karen) VanLysel; niece and nephews; and friend, Ray Gerstner. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin VanLysel; and son, Andrew Anderson.
A Funeral Service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I am so sorry to hear about Sally's death. She was a kind & lovely woman. We both worked at Dane County Human Services together. Every contact I had with her was positive. Sally really CARED about the children & families she worked with. To her family...REMEMBER the GOOD TIMES. May her Memory be a Blessing.

Sally was a gem. She was incredibly kind and thoughtful, and was an awesome colleague. Sally was a skilled social worker, an incredible listener, and always was willing help her coworkers. I loved hearing stories about her grandchildren, and how excited she was to spend time with them. She happily bought Girl Scout cookies from my daughter to share with her family, who she adored. Sally will be missed, and my heart goes out to her family.
