Wanda Chisholm

MADISON - Wanda Chisholm, age 81, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born and raised in Leimen, Germany. She met Donald Chisholm while he was stationed in Germany, and they were married on July 3, 1958. Wanda finally arrived in America on May 9, 1959, and she became a U.S. citizen on July 5, 1964. She always remained close with her family and made yearly visits back to Germany. Wanda worked for Central Wisconsin Center for many years, retiring in 1998. It was a career that she truly felt privileged to do. She enjoyed bowling and belonged to many teams over the years. Wanda was a very creative person, and she had a talent for repurposing dolls. She would even create new clothing for them and donate the dolls to Toys for Tots and American Family Children's Hospital. She enjoyed knitting the doll clothes and also clothes for her children and grandchildren. Wanda enjoyed sharing her baking talents, especially her Plum Cake, which was often requested by many. She was a strong woman and was a proud breast cancer survivor! Wanda is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters, Irma (Dave Haase) Smith and Valerie (Carol Dziewior) Chisholm; grandchildren, Alexander Smith, Mitchell Smith and Katherine (Christopher) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Christopher Jackson; brother, Heinz (Erika) Reinig; nephew, Markus (Bilja) Reinig; great-nephew, Nico Reinig; great-niece, Elena Reinig; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Franz (Anna "Unsi") Reinig; and sisters, Lena Waldschmidt and Irma. A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.
