John Philip Soderlund

CAMBRIDGE- John P. Soderlund, age 65, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021. He was born on Feb. 4, 1956, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Herbert and Marion (Kastelberger) Soderlund. After graduating from Wausau West High School in 1975, John went on to North Central Technical College to study police science. He landed in the electric sales industry and loved it. His most recent position prior to early retirement was at Werner Electric of Madison, Wis. John’s favorite pass times were spending time with his wife of 32 years, Theresa. The two were inseparable and so in love. He loved spending time with his family at the cottage, fishing and living the lake life. John enjoyed the adventure of shopping at local thrift shops and record stores to find great deals and pieces of history. He was especially intrigued with old records, books and pens. John is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; daughter, Amanda (Chris) Reed; grandchildren, Gavin Reed and Evalynn Reed; his brother, Peter (Lynda) Soderlund and their children, Paul and Leigh; and brother, Eric (Mary) Soderlund and their children, Lydia, Laura and Lenn. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. A graveside service will follow at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, 3054 County Highway BB, Cottage Grove. A luncheon will be held at the funeral home immediately following the burial. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday.
