Janet Ruth Piddington

MADISON - Janet Piddington, age 81, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021. She was born on Feb. 26, 1940, in Racine, Wis., the daughter of Douglas and Margaret (Hansis) Lloyd. Jan graduated from Racine High School in 1958 and UW-Whitewater in 1963. She married Bruce Piddington on June 11, 1961. Jan was a very talented and gifted musician and artist. She worked as a choir director for Messiah Lutheran Church, Monona Senior Center and others. Jan enjoyed rosemaling and was a proud winner of many ribbons at state fairs. She was a strong advocate for individuals with disabilities in the community. Most impressive of all was the love she had for her family. Jan was the most caring, kind, generous, and thoughtful woman you would ever meet. So greatly missed will be the big smile and warm hug that you’d get every time you saw her… and the deep belly laughs you would hear when she was having fun with her sister, Jean. Jan loved life and made everyone’s day better - just by being herself. Jan is survived by her husband, Bruce; sister, Jean Oleksy; son, Mark Piddington; daughter, Lisa (Kenneth) Bent; seven granddaughters, Ashley (Nick) Ring, Sarah Jimieson, Brianna (Alex) Parker, Brittany Piddington, Kianna Bent, Leah Piddington and Chelsea Piddington; two grandsons, Tyler Piddington and Lance Piddington; great-grandchildren, Maddie Ring and Matthew Ring; and many nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald and Richard; and son, Michael. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.
