Obituary
MONONA - Delores Jean "Dee" Zimmerman, age 91, of Monona, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on October 23, 1933, in Lime Ridge, Wis., the daughter of Martin and Lula (Schultz) Hasse.
Dee graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1951. After attending nursing training in Milwaukee, she became a licensed nurse in 1955 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from UW-Madison. On September 16, 1961, she married Merle Zimmerman in Reedsburg, Wis. Dee started her career at UW Hospital as an inpatient nurse before transferring to outpatient care in the OB/GYN Clinic until her retirement.
Dee was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison and was very active over the years doing volunteer work for the church. She especially enjoyed Circle Bible Study and Blanket workshop groups. She was also an active member of the AAUW. For relaxation, she enjoyed attending theatre productions, reading and traveling.
Delores is survived by her daughter, Anna (Steven) Dreger; son, Aaron (Karen) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Sophie and Peter Zimmerman; sisters-in-law, Lettie (John Bullis) Zimmerman, Terri (McCormick) Zimmerman; nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; and sister, Lorraine Hasse.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

The family wishes to thank the staff of UW Hospital for the wonderful care and support given to Dee and her family and the staff at Heritage, Monona, for their care and friendship over the last two years.
