Obituary

MADISON- Paul Gordon Erickson, age 64, passed away on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at his home after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer.

Paul was born in Madison, Wis., on Dec. 29, 1957, the son of Joanne (Schneider) and Gordon Erickson. He graduated from La Follette High School in 1976 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After leaving the Marines, Paul joined Madison Gas and Electric in 1988 and continued working there for more than 30 years. On April 28, 1989, he married Karen Clark and together they raised two daughters, Staci and Ashly.

Paul was an avid hunter and golfer, although he was more successful at the former than the latter. He enjoyed smoking a variety of meats in his smokehouse and was famous among family and friends for his smoked salmon.

Paul is survived by his mother, Jo; his wife, Karen; daughters, Staci and Ashly (Eric Koskovich); brothers, Mark (Tricia) and Steve; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Otis and Axel. He is preceded in death by his father, Gordy; and his nephew, Travis.

Finally, the family would like to extend a thank you to the entire hospice staff at Agrace HospiceCare, especially his nurse, Nicole, who truly cared about Paul’s comfort.

A celebration of life will be held at BREAKWATER, 6308 Inland Way, Monona, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

So sorry to hear this news. I have fond memories of growing up on Steinies Drive and playing outside with all the neighborhood kids, including Paul. Although I was not much older than Paul I did "babysit' him and his brothers as a teen. My thoughts are with all of Paul's family at this sad time. May your memories comfort you. Jaci McDaniel

My sympathy to you at Paul's passing. I was the office clerk for the Meter & Connection Department at Madison Gas & Electric Co. Paul was always pleasant and very nice to everyone. I am so sorry to hear of his illness and passing. I have fond and happy memories of him. Lynn Mattison
