Emery M. Stluka

MAZOMANIE - Emery Michael Stluka was born in Prairie du Chien, Wis., on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1935.  He was the eldest of three children born to Victor and Velma (Bartels) Stluka, and died, unexpectedly, on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021.  He grew up in Eastman, Wis., went to school in Prairie du Chien, and moved to Middleton his senior year, graduating in 1952, from Middleton High School.  He married Judith Rabe, and together, they raised four children in Middleton.  Emery served in the U.S. Army and resided in Germany early in their marriage.  He was trained and worked as a licensed electrician for many years.  Emery was a proud member of IBEW, retiring from the State of Wisconsin.  He and Judy divorced, and several years later, met and married Dottie Petri.  They spent nearly 30 wonderful years together.  

Emery had many unique hobbies and interests.  He liked tinkering and doing things with his hands and could make or fix almost anything.  Emery was a long-time member of Middleton Community Church.  He was a Mason and Shriner and played bagpipes in the Zor Shrine Pipes and Drums Band, as well as a Rainbow Girls Dad.  Emery was fascinated with historical re-enactment of the fur trade era and made many friends all over the country at Rendevous.  He was a member of the Old Northwest Company and played the bagpipes for the Celtic Renaissance Consort, a Scottish dance group.  

Emery was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.  He is survived by his wife, Dottie; children, Dan, Laurie (Greg) Stolen, Dave (Rena) and Anne; Dottie's children, Tania (Andy) Waller and Scot Petri; grandchildren, Maggan (Jacob) Collier, Michael (Sydney) Stluka, Grace, Alex and Kayla Stolen; Lindsey (Brody) Norman and Cameron Stluka; Drew and Elise Waller; and Madison and Scottie Petri; great-grandsons, Vincent and Calvin; brother, Buzz (Dar) Stluka; sister, Theresa (Dave) Olig; sisters in-law, Joyce Long, Helen Ward and Jan (Bill) Kuepper; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Emery was a very kind man, who gave the best hugs.  He was much loved and will be forever missed.  Love you Bumps!  A Celebration of Life and Masonic Service will be held at MIDDLETON COMMUNITY CHURCH, 645 Schewe Road, Middleton, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022.  A gathering will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
