Obituary
Bruce David Larson, age 72, of Stevens Point, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021. He was born on Sept. 24, 1948, in Peoria, IL, the son of the late Oscar and Helen (Murk) Larson.
After graduating from Woodruff High School, Bruce earned his bachelor's degree from Bradley University and received his master’s degree from the University of Missouri. He proudly served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force as a missile launch officer during the Vietnam War.
Bruce was a certified public accountant for 32 years and taught business and accounting at Elmhurst College and Concordia University-Chicago. He married Lynn Drawer on Nov. 28, 1970, in Chicago.
Bruce played trombone in high school and in the College of DuPage Community Band. He was a member of the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants; churches in Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, and Wisconsin where he served over the years as auditor, treasurer, usher, greeter, and taught Sunday School. Bruce joyfully served on the Board of Directors as treasurer of Community Support Services, which supports mentally challenged adults.
Bruce enjoyed time with his family and friends, traveling, attending summer concerts, listening to music, reading, gardening, and serving as an AYSO soccer referee, and Cub Scout leader.
In addition to Lynn, his wife of 50 years, Bruce is survived by three sons, Douglas, Pastor Scott (Thea), and David; four grandchildren, Micah, Jeremiah, Nathaniel, and Lucy Larson; his two brothers, Reid and Dean; and other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Life for Bruce will be held at LAKE WISCONSIN EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, N1640 Ryan Road, Lodi, at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, with his son, Pastor Scott Larson presiding. Private burial will be in Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in King, WI. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.

I have been blessed to know Bruce in the past several months. He was a treasure to spend time with, and always grateful for every day. We shared friendship and school experiences from kindergarten through 12th grade, and one year at Bradley. Bruce took me up in a single engine plane and down into an Air Force missile silo. Lots of great memories of a truly wonderful man, and it’s obvious Bruce led a very full, productive and giving life, including service to his country. My condolences to Lynn, and Bruce’s entire family.
