As our new principal at our new EHS in 1963, I had the privilege of requesting pep assemblies for our sports teams. He was always supportive. Condolences to his family on his passing.

Our most heartfelt sympathy to all the Shier families in the loss of John. A truly kind, gentle and intellectual man. He and Carol were our neighbors in Edgerton and he mentored me in many ways. He will be missed but never forgotten. Ken and Mary Jo Haugom

We were so sad to read of John's passing. We were neighbors and Tom a co-worker for so many years. John was the first Edgerton person we met when Tom was applying for the teaching job here in Edgerton. Great memories of life on Lois Lane as well as the years of being together at EHS. Our sympathy to all of your family. Tom and Pat Repka

I am sorry to learn of John’s death. John hired me as a high school teacher for Edgerton in 1977. I was fortunate to have John as my principal until his retirement in 1990. John had the ability to bring out the best in his staff. As an educator he was always ahead of his time as he introduced many new ways to educate our youth. John always encouraged his staff to be creative and to be risk takers. I greatly appreciated all of the advice that he gave me during our years together! I will always value our friendship. He was the best Principal that I ever worked for in my 38 years as an educator. Mark Wanless
