Zachary Arthur Blevins

MADISON - Zachary A. Blevins, age 42, of Madison, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021. He was born on July 23, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Zach had a huge heart and was a very caring individual. He was a faithful son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed spending time in both deep and light-hearted conversations and had an unparalleled sense of humor. Zach was an independent thinker and driven person and was successful in everything he did. Zach was an artist, musician and composer. He loved to draw, paint, and create music. He recorded many albums with Flunch and Where the i Divides. He also recorded, mixed, and played multiple instruments with other musical groups including Dorothy and Bill, Fistful of Pistol, Furious Jones and Lake Superior Surf Report. Zach graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1997. He received the Outstanding Fine Arts Student of the Year award which is the most prestigious academic award given to one high school senior. Zach attended Montana State University where he graduated with honors in 2004 receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Religion. He later completed a second Bachelor’s of Arts in Graphic Design from MATC. Zach is survived by his parents, Jerry and Joan Blevins; his partner, Rick Petran; two sisters, Nell Blevins and Becky (Randy) Gray; and nieces, Charlotte and Piper Gray. An outdoor visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Monona, Wis., at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, followed by an outdoor service at noon. Please dress casually as Zach would have wanted it that way. There will be a catered luncheon following the service held outside at the Oneida Park Picnic Shelter, 5720 Tecumseh Ave., Monona. In leu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center in Zach’s name.
