Obituary
VERONA - Joshua Russell Morgan, age 40, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Katherine (Perlewitz) Morgan whom he married on Oct. 15, 2011. Josh was the beloved father, friend and companion to Chance and Elias Morgan. Josh was born Oct. 25, 1980, to Russell and Donna (Oakes) Morgan.
All who met Josh found in him an instant friend. He had a knack for finding common ground and a sense of humor so dry that only the gleam in his eye gave away his antics. His fun-loving personality and generous heart made him the perfect buddy to his four- and seven-year-old sons. His family was the light of his life and there was no greater honor for him than to be called husband and dad.
Josh was a 1999 graduate of Oconomowoc High School and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2004. He was an account manager at Viking Cues in Middleton.
Josh loved all sports, particularly the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers football teams. Even more, he enjoyed teaching and practicing the different sports with his sons and cheering them on as they began youth athletics.
Josh took so much pride in Chance and Elias. He loved to sneak the two boys into the local quarry on summer weekends before it officially opened so they could swim before the crowds arrived.
He preferred to be surrounded by nature -- in particular spending time outdoors hunting opening weekend with his dad, brother and uncle. Another of his favorite pastimes was duck hunting. He cherished summer vacations which were spent fishing and boating with his sons, wife and family on the lake.
Josh is further survived by his brother, Andrew Morgan; brother- and sister-in-law, Jason and Kelly (Shea) Perlewitz; niece and nephew, Sydney and Brandon Perlewitz; aunts, uncles, cousins and countless good friends.
The family will hold a private burial.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family is asking all who knew him to contribute a story, anecdote or picture of him including your relationship and why the memory is important to you. Submissions will be compiled for a keepsake memory book for his children. Memory book contributions can be sent to Barb Perlewitz at barb.perlewitz@gmail.com .

I met Josh at Oshkosh in 2000 and was part of the cheer and stunt team with him. Josh was a good guy and a great friend. He took my under his wing and we would often watch Monday night football games together. We would have a standing 5 - 10 dollar bet on the game in which he would let me pick the team first and then would even spot me points in some cases. I will cherish the memories of those evenings and how Josh’s dry sense of humor made me laugh through most of the game. Although I didn’t stay closely connected to josh after Oshkosh, I enjoyed seeing some occasional posts on Facebook to check in on my friend. I feel honored to have known josh and I am saddened that he left us too soon. Rest In Peace my friend and I hope to see you again.

I met Josh a few years ago when he moved in next door with Katherine and the boys. Our first good chat was on Halloween night when they were trick or treating with Chance and Elias. Both my wife, Peggy and I were excited to have a young family next door as our boys are now all grown and we could have some “boy energy” nearby again. While it has been difficult the last year and a half to build neighborhood friendships, it wasn’t hard to see how dedicated Josh was to being a good dad to Chance and Elias. He would spend countless hours giving hay rides in the back of their riding lawn mower for his boys and other neighbor kids. Playing catch in the back yard for hours. He even asked me once if it was okay for Chance to run patterns into our yard. He was getting so big that they needed a little more space to air the ball out. Josh was so worried about being a good neighbor and was afraid this would be an imposition. I never got the opportunity to tell him that it is just a joy seeing their boys run through the yard having fun with their dad. Just recently we were hanging out on the deck watching the Bucks playoff game and Josh and Chance joined us. Josh slyly said that “he was breaking the rules keeping Chance up past his bedtime”. Peggy remarked to me afterwards what an amazing bond the two of them had and how they talked strategy and players throughout the game. We hope that Chance remembers that moment with his dad. It certainly was special for us to be a part of that with both of them. We also had a great laugh when they bought a trampoline for their back yard. He told me he was going for the parent of the year award. Two hours into assembly he said “I’m ready to give the award back.” He certainly did have a wry sense of humor. Hours later the sounds of his boys playing with the neighborhood kids was the payoff for him. A great dad and a great neighbor. And your boys are welcome in the yard anytime, Josh. Rest easy.

As a classmate of Josh's in middle school and high school I was never the "popular" or "cool" kid. I had hand me down clothes due to being from a poorer family. Josh NEVER made fun of or belittled me in private or in front of other kids. He was always respectful and kind. I may not have kept in touch over the years but he had my respect from day one. Another one lost too soon. RIP 🙏

I met Josh in early 2019. We only met once but spoke regularly. He helped me navigate the waters as a new dealer. Along the way we got to know each other on a personal level; Josh was very proud of his kids and wife. He was one of the most patient, caring people I've gotten to know in a long time. Every call was full of laughs - he knew how to make you smile even on a rough day. I remember him telling me about his dog getting bitten at doggy daycare, leaving him speechless when I asked why the caretakers are biting dogs. I will miss Josh dearly, and am grateful to have had him in my life. His legacy will live on.

Josh was a friend. In one of our meetings he brought his baby Chance, and let me hold him almost the whole hour. He trusted me and we genuinely hit it off. Haven't seen him for a couple years, but still considered him a friend.
