We remember 20 years ago when we lived next door to Jirans, the doorbell would ring…we’d open the door and there would be this sweet little boy smiling up at us. Sterling had something to tell or to show us. When our granddaughters were there one day, he came over with a whole mouthful of bubble gum. They got a kick out of that. We are really so sorry for the loss of your son, Sterling. Larry & Bonnie Thompson

I remember how close he was to his Grandma Pearl. He ate half a pan of frosted brownies and she said it was fine. Then he just grinned at me with the chocolate around his mouth, like "see, Grandma says I can" LOL

The first time I met Sterling, I was on a bench on Main St. taking a break from walking Tess, my dog...he plopped himself down and said "hey"...I started getting up to finish my walk and he said "I don't bite"...I sat back down to let him know he wasn't why I was getting up...after an hour sitting there talking, learning that he was my good friend's son, hearing about cars, girls, and getting invited to his "retirement party"...lol I finally walked back home...I could tell then he had an old soul, a big heart, and I can't remember the time before that, that I had laughed so much, he was as funny as his dad...I got the biggest hug when we parted ways...eventually I started seeing him at the Waddle, years later, and he gave me another Sterling hug when he saw me...that's just how he was, he was instantly my friend after our hour conversation and about 5 yrs later...he was truly a great and loving friend to have...then I went to the Waddle once and decided to leave right away...I got to my car and in jumps Sterling...he said "you look sad tonight, so drive! You need to talk..." he saved my life that night and I thanked him every time I saw him after that...that's Sterling, an instant friend, a sincere heart, someone who makes you laugh, caring, and most of all someone I had the privilege of calling my friend...love you Sterling ((HUGS))❤ you'll be missed forever...
