Ruth A. Strong

MADISON - Ruth Ann Strong, 79, of Madison, Wis., joined the church triumphant on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021.She was born on April 25, 1942, in Adams, Wis., the daughter of Donald and Anne (Verdick) Howland. Ruth married John Strong on Dec. 21, 1963, in Lansing, Iowa. She graduated from Adams High School and UW Lacrosse with a degree in Education. After college, Ruth became a mother and later worked for General Casualty Insurance for many years until her retirement. Ruth was active at Christ Presbyterian Church including being a Deacon, a member of bible study groups, The Brown Bag Ladies and the bell choir. She was always active with craft projects such as knitting, crocheting, and plastic canvas, which she shared with many of her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Ruth is survived by her sons, Daniel (Marci) and Donald (Heather); grandchildren, Samantha (Chance), Bethany, Braedon and Dane; great-grandson, Jackson; sisters, Sandra Foti and Susan (Ronald) Deane; brother, Robert (Janice) Howland; and she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, David; her husband, John; her brother, Terry; and her parents. A visitation will be held at CHRIST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 944 E. Gorham St., Madison from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with service beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021. A luncheon will follow. A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date.
