Richard W. Stamn

MOUNT HOREB/ VERONA-Richard (The Hammer) Stamn, died peacefully at home, on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, after a battle with cancer. He was born in April of 1953, and grew up a farm outside of Mt. Vernon, Wis. Rick married Pam on Aug. 21, 1976, and they built a home near that farm where they remain today. He went to Mt. Horeb High School and after graduating took a job at TDS Telecom where he worked for 42 years before retiring in 2015. Since retirement he has enjoyed spending time tuning up his golf game, puttering around the house and yard, and traveling to places where he and Pam could golf and visit casinos. The Hammer is known for his long-time passion for pitching softball in many leagues and tournaments, especially at the Mt. Vernon Park. He later traded his baseball glove for a golf club. He was on several leagues and loved golfing with his friends and family. Rick was a man of few words but those were always spoken carefully and with kindness and humor, and he always knew how to make a great Brandy Old Fashioned! He especially loved taking his grandkids for rides on his Ranger. He is survived by his wife, Pamela; sons, Christopher (Kim) and Cory (Kim); grandchildren, Carter, Avery, and Brycen; brothers, Gerhard, Greg and Bruce (Vicki); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. At Rick’s request, no service will be held. Instead, people are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Mt.
