Earl L. Hasse

CROSS PLAINS - Earl Leroy Hasse, age 82, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Jan. 14, 1939, the son of Simon and Lydia (Gudenschwager) Hasse. Earl was born and raised on the family farm in Sauk County. He graduated from Weston High School and served in the U.S. Army 1961-1962 including being stationed in West Germany during the Berlin Crisis. Following his discharge, Earl moved to Madison and met his wife, Carla Nelson. They married on Oct. 12, 1968, in Hillpoint, Wis. Earl worked as a physical plant supervisor for University of Wisconsin-Madison for over 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and nurturing and studying wildlife. Oh, the stories he could share! Earl was someone who felt comfortable sharing his opinions, yet he had a kind heart. Earl is survived by his wife, Carla; children, Joel (Elisabeth) Hasse of Kewanee, Ill., and Melody Hasse of Cross Plains; grandchildren, William Hasse (Tori Welch), Jacob Hasse, Liliana Hasse and Daniel Hasse; great-grandchildren, Anastasia and Bear Hasse all of Kewanee, Ill.; sisters, Jean Bredemann and Linda (Norm) Dulak; sister-in-law, Janet Hasse; brothers-in-law, Eric (Marilyn) Nelson and Doug (Donna) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orlen (Norma) Hasse and Marvin Hasse; and brother-in-law, Henry Bredemann. A Celebration of Life will be held be KALSCHEUR PARK COMMUNITY CENTER in Pine Bluff, 3734 County Road P, Cross Plains from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021. Military Honors will be conducted at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Earl’s name to Agrace HospiceCare. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
