Obituary
MONONA - Mark Joseph Raimond, age 60, of Monona, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born on March 19, 1961, in Madison, the son of Sam and Betty (Cook) Raimond.
Mark graduated from La Follette High School in 1979 and proudly served in the U.S. Marines Corps from Jan 1981- 1984 at Camp Pendleton in California. He married Linda Jones on June 24, 2000.
Mark worked at M&I Bank and Kraft Foods in Madison. He was an active member of Bethany Evangelical Free Church and the Italian Workman's Club in Madison.
Mark enjoyed fishing, bowling, driving and traveling through the country, and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his “let me tell you a story” line followed by jokes and stories, which will be dearly missed. He was also known as “Huey” and “Stretch” and his nieces and nephews called him “Monster Mark.” His nieces and nephews had a special place in his heart that he cherished.
Mark is survived by his wife, Linda; siblings, David (Rosie), Tony (Connie), Patty, and Sam (Julie); brother and sisters-in-law, Laurie and Brian (Colleen); nieces and nephews, Amy Anderson, Melissa Minter, Bruce, Corey and Adam Raimond, Kayla Barman and Brooke Raimond, John and Mark Kompsie, and Emily, Andrew, Aaron and Sean; aunts, Shirley Gulvik, Katie Cook, Audrey Theobold; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; in laws, Ruth and Howard; many aunts and uncles; and pets, Rex, Bella, and Peanut.
A funeral service will be held at BETHANY EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 301 Riverside Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, with the Rev. David Carlson presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021. Parking is limited in the church lot. Please park in the street if able.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mark’s name to American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Mark always had a smile and a cherry word for everyone. I will never forget his outstanding home made lasagna that he treated the Friday church senior group with on different occasions. Mark will be much missed. However, we will meet again in the Lord's presence.
