RHINELANDER / MADISON - Shirley Ann Parker, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Sept. 15, 1933, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Voegtle) Pierce.
Shirley and Kenneth were married in Gary, Ind., on June 20, 1953. They later moved to Park Ridge, Ill., where many lifelong friendships were formed. The family moved to Rhinelander, Wis., in 1970, and Lake Julia was home for many years.
Shirley established a preschool, Toddler House, where she touched the lives of many children.
Later in life, Shirley began a career in real estate. She successfully served many clients and developed long lasting friendships.
Shirley was devoted to her family. Together they enjoyed downhill skiing, water skiing, fishing, boating, swimming, campfires and playing games. Listening to the loons and bird watching were also meaningful parts of her life. Spending time with friends played a crucial part in Shirley’s life, from entertaining, playing bridge and golf, being a part of the P.E.O. Sister Hood, shopping and sharing a good laugh, helped to make her complete.
Shirley is survived by her children; Jody (Tom) Desch, son, Jeffrey (Linda) Parker and Amy Parker; nine grandchildren, Maggie (Andy) Verrier, Andy (Chrissy) Desch, Annie (Gary) Schadrie, Robert (Ashley Hackle) Dulka, Ted (Tanya) Gough, Eric (Kymberly McKernan) Dulka, Justice Parker, Derrick Parker and Keila Parker; great-grandchildren, Emily, Eleanor and Samantha Verrier, Hannah, Melanie and Parker Desch, Berkley, Owen and Briggs Schadrie, Logan and Stella Dulka and Anthony Gough; brother, James (Kathy) Pierce; and many other special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and sister-in-law, Nancy (Don) Davidsen.

Grandma Shirley was always there for me. I will never forget such an amazing Grandma. She took me shopping, I visited her at her lake house, we played board games, out to lunch, and so many other cherishable memories. This was a hard goodbye for me but every moment I had with her was a true blessing. I love you forever Grandma💓

I was very saddened to hear of Shirley's passing...My children attended Toddler House, I worked there in the early 80's and later purchased the preschool from her when she moved back to IL...she was a delightful lady with a great sense of humor!!
