Bernie was always a great host. She organized a family reunion several years ago bring together family from many states. Her breakfast rolls and German potato salad were just 2 of her specialties.

What a dear angel Bernie was to our family for years: she saw us through good and bad times and made the path clear and worth taking. Jeff and I and our children will miss her very much; but I know she will be watching over us every day. We send love and condolences to Jim, her dear husband and to their children Barry and David . Thankyou for sharing her with us for so many years. We will be eternally grateful.

When we look back we can all hopefully pick out a few people that really made a positive impact on our childhoods. For me, Bernie was one of those people. Besides my parents, I can actually think of no greater influence on my youth and who I became as an adult than Bernie. Her kind heart and fantastic laugh made her such a joy to be around while her charity and selflessness made her the model of what we can and should be for our families and the communities we live in.
Once in a while my wife will be cooking something that takes me right back to Bernie and Jim's house when I was a child. Every time we'd visit they were always the most gracious hosts. Bernie would have their home filled with all these amazing aromas from so many delicious dishes and it never hurt that there'd invariably be myriad snacks for us kids to dig through when we weren't down in the rec room playing pool.
I'll cherish those memories for the rest of my life and never forget the love and kindness that was Bernie.

Hi Dave and Barry, I don't know if you remember us - Joe and Signe Perrigoue, we lived in the little house (751 Janesville) for over 10 years. Our condolences to you! Your mom was an absolutely marvelous person and I still love her dearly. Always a smile and hello from her as she worked her beloved hastas. She and your dad were a real inspiration for us as we began our marriage. Our sympathies go out to you! Sincerely, Joe and Signe Perrigoue
