Obituary
BROOKLYN - Thelma Irene Caron, age 97, of Brooklyn, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her home. She was born on October 19, 1928, in Crystal, Wis., the daughter of Edwin and Annabelle (Leath) Falstad.
Prior to her retirement in 1990, Thelma worked at Gustafson’s Studio in Park Falls, in the office of the Flambeau Paper Mill in Park Falls, and then as a clerical worker for the State of Wisconsin for 30 years. In her free time she enjoyed golfing, traveling, especially on cruises, and bowling. She proudly won the title of State Women’s Bowling champion in 1952.
Thelma is survived by her children, Diane (Michael) Vultaggio, Douglas Caron, David A. Caron and Denise (Scott) Cox; grandchildren, Jason Vultaggio, Jesse Vultaggio, Brianna Olson, Trevor Cox, Courtney Cox and Nicole Carlin; great-grandchildren, Olivia Vultaggio, Chloe Vultaggio, Autumn Vultaggio, Caia Vultaggio, Bailey Olson, Phoenix Cox and Emerson Carlin; brother, Harlon Falstad; and sister, Marion Hilgart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Annabelle Falstad; step-mother, Elfrieda Falstad; infant son, David G. Caron; brothers, Vernon Falstad and Dale Falstad; and sisters, Evelyn Herbst and Mavis Benson.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026. Entombment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
