Beverly Jean Ramos

MADISON - Beverly “Jean” Ramos passed away quietly on Saturday night, Oct. 30, 2021, in the presence of loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Jean was a lifelong resident of Madison and was born on July 24, 1933. She grew up on the Eastside of Madison, attending Emerson Elementary and graduating from East High School in 1952. Jean was full of life and active as a cheerleader. She married Chris Ramos on July 17, 1954.They shared 67 years together and had three sons. Jean was employed with the Madison Metropolitan School District from the early '70s until her retirement in 1996. Jean had many roles including playground supervisor, lunch lady, room mom, sports official and she also coached the girls’ pom pom and cheerleading squads. She finished her career at LaFollette High School where she ran the Tutor Center and Paperback Book Room. Jean was an amazing woman who made everyone feel welcome and included. She had a smile and a hug for everyone. Jean had a passion for children, everyone’s children, and cared greatly for their welfare. Most of all, she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jean loved sports. Badgers, Packers as well as high school football and basketball. She especially loved watching her grandchildren play and when they were done, she still attended games down the road at LaFollette where she had worked for so many years. Concerts on the Square were another love of Jean’s. Often attending with her sister, Betty, for 28 years, sitting in front of the old Rennebohm’s building. Jean loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She always went all out to magically transform her home with her Christmas Village pieces, flower arrangements, ornaments and lights. Family was everything to Jean. She brought us together whenever possible. If not in person, she spent many hours cutting our photos and creating collages of us to hang around the house. She is survived by her husband, Chris; sons, Bruce and his children (Chad, Chelsee, Chase and their mother, Tracee), Brian (Cathy) and their children (Samantha, Brian and Nic) and Brad (Lara) and their children (Elaina and Georgia); as well as seven great-grandchildren, who will miss her tremendously with the rest of us. She is also survived by her siblings Betty Hinrichs and Donald Larson; nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Willard “Bill” and Bertha Larson, and brother, Wayne Larson. The family wishes to thank the Agrace HospiceCare staff for their wonderful care and compassion provided at the end of Jean’s life. Mom is greatly missed by us and we are so thankful to have had her in our lives. The family is planning a celebration of Jean’s life that will be held at a future date.
