Maxine Doris Chamberlain

MADISON - Maxine D. Chamberlain, age 93, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at SSM Health-St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Nov. 14, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of Thorval and Josephine (Olson) Nording. Maxine graduated from East High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Jim Chamberlain on June 26, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Maxine was a very active member of the Women’s Leah Circle at Trinity Lutheran Church. Maxine worked for the Madison School District and retired from Sennett Middle School after 20 years. She was an avid Badgers Men’s Basketball fan and enjoyed golfing. Maxine loved being outdoors and gardening was one of her favorite hobbies. She loved dancing with her husband and attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Maxine and Jim would always attend Jim’s 1880th Engineer Aviation Battalion reunions which were held every two years throughout the United States. Maxine is survived by her daughter, Kristin Chamberlain; son, David (Pat) and children, Eric and Katie; son, Gary (Sue) and children, Brian, Joe and Kevin; and son, Craig and children, Corey and A.J.; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; and brother, Glenn Nording. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be gifted in Maxine’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church or Second Harvest Food Bank.
