Obituary
MADISON - Susan M. Wiggen, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at SSM Health- St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Oct. 25, 1946, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Philip and Lillie (Fick) Wiggen.
Susan graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1964 and UW-Madison.
She worked as an administrative assistant for many years. Susan was a longtime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 7591 on Cottage Grove Road. She was very patriotic and was honored to welcome the Honor Flight members home.
Susan was independent and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a natural caregiver and always put others before herself. She would graciously take in her brothers and many other loved ones when they needed a place to stay. Her family was very important, and they meant the world to her. She also had a tight knit bond with all of her extended family.
Susan loved being outdoors, camping, kayaking, golfing and playing softball in many Madison leagues. She loved the adventures of traveling especially to her cabin in Castle Rock and her vacations to Mexico, China, the islands, Las Vegas, and Door County. Susan loved dancing and was the best.
Susan is survived by five brothers, Allen (Diane) Wiggen, Jeff (Sally) Wiggen, Scott Wiggen, Todd (Sue) Wiggen and Todd Philp Wiggen; sister-in-law, Jeanne Wiggen; lifelong friends, Janey Owens and Cheryl Gavin; stepsisters, Wanda Beals and Janet Schlee; nephews, Chad Wiggen and Aaron Wiggen; and nieces, Melissa (Daryl) Kubly, Catherine Wiggen and Jillian Givens. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Wiggen; and sister, Colleen Wiggen.
A celebration of life will be held at VFW Post 7591, 301 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021.
Memorials may be gifted in Susan’s name to VFW Auxiliary Post No. 7591, Cottage Grove Road, Madison. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Dean Clinic along with all of the staff at St. Mary's hospital for the care and support that they gave to Susie and her family. I’m so sorry to hear about Sue. I have so many wonderful memories of working together, going out for fish with our WW group, being roommates on vacation in Door County and Aruba, and being at her house enjoying cocktails and her beautiful flowers! She was always up for anything, had a great sense of humor, loved to be active, and was a generous and supportive friend. The world is better because Sue was in it and I will miss her. ❤️

I was so saddened to hear of Sue’s passing. I loved her and I will miss her a lot. We had such fun dancing and talking smart at the V, being roommates during our trips to Door County and at all the WW (wonderful women) outings, and more recently, our long phone conversations and breakfasts together. Sue loved having a good time but she was also a sensitive and spiritual soul and I will miss our heart-to-hearts most of all. Godspeed Suez - you will be missed.
