Donald Gene Hocking

STOUGHTON - Donald Gene Hocking joined his wife in Heaven on Monday, July 5, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 16, 1938, in Readstown, to Washington and Bernice Hocking. Donald married the love of his life and best friend, Rita Sarbacker on Sept. 17, 1960. Don served on the USS Lake Champlain CVS39 from 1956-1958 and was part of the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a foreman at Garver’s Feed Mill for over 30 years. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Papa were some of the titles he wore best. Don is survived by his children, Mark Hocking and Lora (Tom) Heady; grandchildren, Acacia Haak, Marcus Hocking, Brianna Hocking, Dylan Hocking, Jessica (Nic) Pearson, Shaun (Lindsay) Heady, Angie (Bob) Skaggs and Bob (Becky) Mattman; his great-grandchildren, Noemi Cervantes, Lilianna Pearson, Cameron Pearson, Lincoln Forbes and Charolette Kelly; sisters, Ruth, Judy (Don), Barb (Darrell) and Lois; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Washington and Bernice; wife, Rita, brothers, Rodger and Gordon; and great-granddaughter, Gabby Mae Forbes. At Don’s request, no services will be held.
