Gregory Carl Knapp

DEFOREST - Gregory Carl Knapp, age 65, of DeForest, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at The Legacy. He was born on Oct. 15, 1955, in Madison, the son of James and Charlotte (Brown) Knapp. Gregory graduated from James Madison Memorial High School. He married Connie Neuman Ziegel on Aug. 25, 1990. Gregory worked as a maintenance technician for Cuna Mutual Insurance for 26 years, and later worked at various employers over the years. Gregory enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. He was a movie buff and an avid reader- especially about the Civil War. He enjoyed antiquing and loved collecting any type of gadget. Gregory also loved taking care of his yard and woodworking. Gregory is survived by his wife, Connie; two stepsons, Curt (Kim) Ziegel and Craig (Yvonne) Ziegel; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca Knapp and Carole Steele; brother-in-law, Al Simoncic; sister-in-law, Sharon Knapp; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sue Simoncic; and brother, Jim Knapp. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, with the Rev. Sandra Schieble presiding. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
