Ramon R. "Ray" Riley

MADISON - Ramon R. “Ray” Riley of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the age of 85, from long-term effects of Parkinson’s Disease. Ray was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Madison. He was the son of Violet Thysse Riley and Robert D. Riley. He graduated from Madison West High School in 1954, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Madison Business College. On June 1, 1957, he married Eloise Evert. He and Eloise were second grade classmates at Emerson Elementary School. They recently celebrated their 64th anniversary. Ray served as president of Madison East Kiwanis and was a member of Madison East Rotary. In addition, he served in the U.S. Air National Guard for several years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Madison. Ray worked in sales for almost 30 years for Webcrafters, Inc., retiring as Vice-President of Midwest and Western Sales in 1998. Ray was known for his great sense of humor, and he loved riding his bicycle, golfing, and all the years spent camping. He also loved to sing and play his guitar for his family. He was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. He leaves his family and friends with many fun memories of his shenanigans throughout the years. Ray is survived by his wife, Eloise; his two sons, Robert (Lee) of South Bend, Ind., and Patrick (Anne) of Appleton, Wis.; six grandchildren, Rick, Beth, Jack (Hannah), Megan, R.J., and Daniel; two great-granddaughters, Stella and Kate; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jan and Gene Boelte; lifelong friends, Karen and Peter Foy; and loved niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Eileen (Arthur) Henning; and his niece, Colleen Smith. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
