Obituary
VERONA - Barbara Jean Hanson, age 80, of Verona, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Jan. 1, 1941, in Madison, the daughter of Bruce and Dorothy (Dahlk) Volker.
Barbara graduated from Middleton High School. She married Duane Hanson on March 12, 1960. Barbara was a lifelong member of West Middleton Lutheran Church where she enjoyed volunteering her time.
Barbara loved spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. She delighted in the adventures of Sunday car rides and gathering with her family for picnics, holidays and Brewers games-her favorite part was tailgating! Barbara and Duane enjoyed their fall trips and the beauty of the scenery they found along the way.
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Jeffery (Jamie) Hanson and Steve (Becky) Hanson; daughter, Lisa Hanson; four grandchildren, Erik (Kara) Hanson, Christopher Hanson, Anna (Yari) Neitenbach and Jenna (Josh) Adler; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Neitenbach and Finley Adler; four brothers, John (Mary) Volker, Doug (Karen) Volker, Bill (Mary) Volker and Fred (Colleen) Volker; sister, Beth (Bill) Brown; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Duane.
A funeral service will be held at WEST MIDDLETON LUTHERAN CHURCH, Middleton, 3763 Pioneer Road, Verona, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, with the Rev. Connie Matye presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until 11:15 am on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Barbara to be designated at a later date.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and staff at Dean and St. Mary’s for their loving and compassionate care of Barbara.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of her family. I have many fond memories of Barb. They all began in the little church on Mineral Point Road. I don't remember the year(s), but she was one of my Sunday School teachers. Again, my deepest sympathy.
